How do I Navigate the Rules of ON!Track for Success?

  • Updated

When we think of ON!Track, assets are the first thing that comes to mind. It's exciting to dive in and start creating assets right away, but understanding the basics is crucial. By mastering these fundamentals first, you'll be able to create assets smoothly and efficiently.

Let's explore the three essential rules of ON!Track:

  1. Every Asset Needs a Home: Each asset must be assigned a default location or "home" where it resides.
  2. Every Home Needs an Owner: Every location within ON!Track must have someone responsible for it.
  3. Every Asset Needs to Be Assigned to Someone: For accountability, each asset must be assigned to a person.

These rules might seem straightforward, but they are crucial to understand before creating your first asset.

To get started, we need to:

  • Create People (Employees): These are the individuals who can be assigned to locations and assets.
    • Employees are responsible for managing Alerts & Notifications, Generate Reports, Transfer Assets, Confirm Delivery, and Modify Transfers.

  • Create Locations: These are the places where assets will be stored or used.
    • Locations in ON!Track includes physical places with addresses (like warehouses or job sites) or geographic areas (Location Groups).
    • Each warehouse or jobsite must have a designated Location Manager.
    • Assets and Quantity Items are always linked to a Location.
  • Assign Assets: Each asset needs a home, an owner, and a user.
    • Asset Identification: Easily identify the types and quantity of assets you possess.
    • Asset Location: Quickly locate where our assets are currently located.
    • Asset Ownership: Assign responsibility to specific individuals for each asset.
    • Asset Status: Monitor the condition and status of our assets.
    • Asset Organization: Efficiently manage our asset pool across various locations.

In the following sections, we'll guide you through the process of creating an asset. We'll start with setting up Employees, then move on to Locations, and finally, we'll cover Asset creation. This step-by-step approach ensures a smooth setup, just like we do with new users.
