How to Delete an Asset

  • Permissions Needed:

Only users with "Admin" or "Delete Assets" permissions can delete assets. Check your permissions if you don’t see the delete option.

  • Check Asset Status:

    • Assets that are "In-Transit" (transferred but not yet confirmed delivered) cannot be deleted.

  • Bulk Deletion:

    • You can delete more than one asset at a time from the asset list view.

  • After Deletion:

    • All history, transfers, tracking, service records, and attachments for the asset are permanently deleted.
    • Any alerts for the deleted asset are cleared.
    • The asset’s scan code, inventory number, or serial number can be reused for new assets.

  • Alternative:

    • If you want to keep the asset’s history, consider marking it as "Disposed" or "Retired" instead of deleting it.

How to Delete a Kit (Storage Asset)

  • Important:
    • Before deleting a kit (storage asset), make sure all subordinate (child) items are transferred to another location. They will no longer be listed as part of the kit after deletion.

  • Follow the Same Steps as for Assets:

    • Click on Assets tab to open the asset list view.

Important:

  • Storage Assets:
    • Cannot be deleted if they still have associated items (child assets or quantity items).
    • If child assets are in "Disposed," "Retired," or "Lost" status, temporarily set them to "Operational" to edit or remove them.
    • Make sure the storage asset is not present in any inventory or export reports before deletion.

  • GPS Tags:
    • If an asset or kit has a GPS tag, deleting it will automatically de-link the tag, making it available for reassignment.

Note: If you cannot delete an asset or kit due to system restrictions, contact your system administrator or support team for help.
