When you are using ON!Track, Smart tags may sometimes be detected by more than one gateway at the same time. This is normal behaviour and usually occurs when the tag is within the Bluetooth range of multiple gateways.
How detection works
Each Smart tag is assigned to a specific gateway. However, if the tag is physically close to another gateway, that gateway may also detect it.
For example: Smart Tag 1 is assigned to Gateway A. Because the tag is near Gateway B, Gateway B can also detect the same tag.
How This Appears in ON!Track
To ensure accurate tracking and transparency, ON!Track displays the tag differently in each gateway’s inventory:
The tag will appear in the two inventories as follows:
|
Gateway A - Smart tag 1 Expected and Found |
Gateway B - Smart tag 1 Unexpected |
This behaviour ensures that the assigned gateway remains the primary source of truth, while still providing visibility when a tag is detected by nearby gateways.
Why an automated transfer may not happen
Instead, the asset is added to the Suggested Transfers list for manual confirmation.
What you may notice
- The asset stays in the Suggested Transfers list longer than expected.
- An automatic transfer does not happen, even though the feature is enabled.
- The asset may remain in the list after one of the gateways is no longer nearby.
What to do
- Go to Alerts > Suggested Transfers.
- Find the asset in the list.
- Check the suggested destination.
- Confirm the transfer manually.
Note: This most often happens during loading or unloading when two vans, or two locations with gateways, are parked close together. After the transfer is confirmed, the asset is moved to the correct location and removed from the list.
