Why does report generation sometimes take a few minutes?

  • Updated

When you click Generate for a report, ON!Track accepts your request immediately and then processes the report in the background. That's why you'll see the status show "In Progress" for a short time before the report is ready to download.

How long it takes depends on two main factors:

  1. Number of assets — The more assets (tools, equipment, vehicles) included in the report, the more data ON!Track needs to collect and compile. A report covering your entire fleet will naturally take longer than one for a handful of items.

  2. Date range — A report spanning several months or a full year requires significantly more data processing than a short weekly summary. Reports can cover up to 365 days of data.

For most customers, reports are ready within 2 to 10 minutes. Smaller reports with fewer assets and shorter date ranges will often finish in under a minute.

Tips to speed things up:

  • Narrow the date range to only the period you need

  • Use filters (location, employee, asset group) to limit the report to the most relevant data

  • Avoid generating multiple large reports at the same time — running them one at a time can help each finish faster
