What problem does TU 600 (VIM) solve for service vans?

  • Updated

The TU 600 (VIM — Van Inventory Management) solves the problem of automated asset and tool tracking inside service vans.

Service vans carry a large number of tools and equipment out in the field, and without an automated solution, companies have no reliable way to know:

  • What tools are in which van — manual inventory checks are time-consuming and error-prone

  • Whether tools are missing, lost, or unexpectedly present — theft or misplacement goes undetected

  • Where the van (and its tools) are located — no real-time geolocation visibility

The TU 600 VIM is installed in a service van (connected via the OBD port) and acts as a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) gateway. It continuously scans for BLE smart tags attached to tools and assets, then reports that data to ON!Track, enabling:

  • Automated Smart Inventory — classifying assets as Expected, Found, Not Found, or Unexpected without manual effort

  • Geolocation updates — every 2 minutes when the van is moving (speed > 8 km/h) and every 15 minutes when parked

  • Loss/theft detection — alerts when tagged tools go missing ("Gone") or reappear ("Found")
