Geo Tag Movement Detection is an optional feature that shows when a tagged tool or asset starts moving and stops moving. This helps users understand when an asset was moved and when it was last parked. The feature is only available for Pro & Enterprise license bundles. When this feature is turned on:
- ON!Track shows an update when the asset starts moving
- Another update is sent when the asset stops
- Regular location updates still happen as usual
How Geo tag movement detection helps your business
Faster response when assets move: Teams can quickly see when important equipment is being moved between sites or storage areas.
Fewer work interruptions: Knowing when movement started or stopped makes it easier to understand when the location changed.
Better accountability and coordination: Clear movement times when an asset started/stopped, helps teams hand over equipment without confusion.
Reduced risk of unnoticed removal: Unexpected movement is easier to spot, so teams can follow up sooner.
Benefits of Geo tag movement detection
Works with existing update rhythm: Movement updates are added on top of the regular Geo Tag updates.
Clear movement timestamps: ON!Track can show the movement start time and movement stop time in the asset’s Geo Tag details.
User-controlled per asset: Movement Detection is enabled only for the assets that need it, helping balance visibility vs. battery usage. This can be done by users with "Edit Geo Tag Movement" permission access.
Transparent limitation: The feature provides movement start/stop events and does not provide a route/path.
Use Cases
Site supervisor (jobsite): Confirms when shared equipment leaves one site and arrives at another Warehouse or yard.
Warehouse / yard manager :Sees when equipment was picked up and when it was parked again.
Tool/equipment manager (operations): Enable movement detection only for frequently transported or high‑value items to get movement visibility.
Project manager: Reduce uncertainty in planning by checking whether key equipment is currently moving or has already stopped at a new place.
Admin: Control availability via company settings, and support users with guidance on when to enable it (battery trade-off).
How it works
Admin step (company-wide): Movement Detection must be allowed/enabled in Company Settings.
User step (per asset): It is then enabled per geo-tagged asset (manual selection), because it can increase battery usage.
- Activation Delay: After enabling, the state goes to "activating" and only becomes "active" after the first movement event is received. This can take up to 12+ hours (next scheduled connection at 6AM/6PM).
Where users see the movement information
Asset Details / Smart Map: Movement details appear as part of the asset’s geolocation information, with a dedicated Geo Tag area.
Status visibility: ON!Track can show whether movement detection is inactive / activating / active, and can display movement start/stop timestamps.
Summary
Geo Tag Movement Detection adds movement started and movement stopped updates for geo‑tagged assets, alongside the regular Geo Tag location updates.
It improves day‑to‑day visibility for assets that move frequently, while keeping the experience simple: movement events and timestamps, not routes.
