Automated Transfers Overview

  • Updated

Automated transfers in Hilti ON!Track update the location of your BLE-enabled assets automatically when they move between places that have a gateway- such as warehouses, vans, or jobsites.

This means the system creates the transfer for you, so you no longer need to change tool locations by hand.

Note:

  • Automated transfers must be enabled by the admin (disabled by default).
  • Automated transfers are available only on ON!Track PRO or Enterprise licenses

How Automated transfers functionality helps your business

  • More reliable asset data across the organization: The company gains consistently accurate asset location data over time, creating a dependable foundation for reporting, planning, and decision‑making.
  • Lower operational risk: By reducing dependence on manual updates, the business lowers the risk of errors, missed transfers, and inconsistent records that can affect operations.
  • Improved cross‑team alignment: All teams work from the same trusted data, which reduces confusion and disagreements and supports smoother collaboration across departments.
  • Stronger control of asset investment: Clear visibility into asset movement and usage supports smarter long‑term decisions about purchasing, redeploying, or retiring equipment.

Key Benefits

Automated Transfers help your business keep accurate track of tools and equipment without extra work from your team. They ensure your ON!Track system always matches where your tools actually are in real life.

  • Automatic location updates: When a tagged tool is no longer detected by one gateway and later detected by another, ON!Track automatically updates the tool’s location. No manual action is needed.
  • One reliable source of truth: Users can trust what ON!Track shows because locations are updated based on gateway data, not memory or manual corrections.
  • Less manual work: Users no longer need to record as many manual transfers. This saves time and reduces mistakes when vans, containers, or tools move.
  • Clear and understandable behavior: Transfers follow a simple “gone → new (after a short delay)” process. This makes it easy for users and support teams to understand why a transfer happened.
  • Adjustable sensitivity: You can adjust the delay between “gone” and “new” to control how sensitive automated transfers are. This helps match the setup to real situations, such as vans parked close together or far apart.

Use Cases

  • Daily van operations with gateways: When service vans with gateways drive between the yard and jobsites, Automated Transfer keeps tool locations updated automatically. Drivers do not need to record transfers manually.
  • Loading tools from a warehouse into a van: When tools move from a warehouse with a gateway to a van with a gateway (for example, during morning loading), ON!Track automatically updates the tools’ location from the warehouse to the van.
  • Tools moving between two vans: If a tool is taken from one van and later detected only by another van’s gateway, the system updates the tool’s location after a short delay- without any user action.
  • Checking unexpected or incorrect transfers: If users report that a transfer looks wrong, support teams review the system’s transfer logic and timing to explain what happened or correct the location.
  • Adjusting settings when transfers happen too often: If automated transfers occur too frequently (for example, when vans are parked very close together), settings can be adjusted to reduce unnecessary updates.

Summary

Automated transfers in ON!Track enhances asset management's efficiency, accuracy, and transparency by reducing manual effort and human errors.

These features help maintain parity between the physical locations and the digital records, ensuring that inventory management is seamless and reliable.
