Suggested Transfers - Prerequisites

  • Updated

A Suggested Transfer alert informs that ON!Track has detected an asset at a smart location where it may not belong, based on its current assigned location.

For example, a drill may still be assigned to Warehouse A, but a van gateway detects it in Service Van 5. In this case, ON!Track can show a Suggested Transfer. You can then review it and move the asset record to the van if the suggestion is correct.

Suggested Transfers can appear even if Automated Transfers are turned off. They are only suggestions, not automatic actions.

Prerequisites for Suggested Transfers

1) The asset must be trackable

The asset must have a BLE tag so ON!Track can detect it.

Suggested Transfers are meant for assets that can be tracked by gateways. They do not apply to regular items that do not have BLE tags.

Quantity items are not included in Suggested Transfers.

If an asset does not have a BLE tag, ON!Track cannot detect it through the gateway network. This means no Suggested Transfer will appear.

2) The asset must be detected by a gateway-enabled place

Suggested Transfers only work in smart locations where gateways are used.

This can include: Warehouses, Service vans, Containers or storage assets and Heavy equipment with gateway support.

If no gateway-enabled place detects the asset, ON!Track does not have tracking information to compare with the asset’s assigned location.

3) The tracked place must be different from the assigned place

This is the most important rule.

If an asset is assigned to Warehouse A and is also detected at Warehouse A, no suggestion is needed.

If an asset is assigned to Warehouse A but detected in Van 5, ON!Track can create a Suggested Transfer.

In simple words, a suggestion appears when ON!Track sees a difference between where the asset is assigned and where it is detected.

4) The asset must not already be in transit

If the asset is already being transferred, it will not appear in the Suggested Transfers list.

This helps avoid confusion and prevents duplicate transfer records. If you expect to see a Suggested Transfer but do not see one, check whether the asset is already marked as In Transit.

5)Your company must use gateway-based tracking

Suggested Transfers are part of Proactive Asset Tracking. This means your company must use gateways for locations or storage assets.

Automated Transfers do not need to be turned on for Suggested Transfers to appear. Suggested Transfers can still appear as a separate review list.

6) You need the right permission to accept a suggestion

A suggestion may be visible, but not every user can accept it.

Usually, the transfer can be completed by users such as: Transfer admins, Location managers and Responsible workers of the asset.

If you can see the suggestion but cannot accept it, you may not have the required permission.

How to Check if a Suggested Transfer Can Appear

A Suggested Transfer can appear when:

  • The asset has a BLE tag.
  • The asset is detected by a gateway-enabled location or storage asset.
  • The detected location is different from the assigned location.
  • The asset is not already in transit.
  • You have the correct permission to confirm the transfer, if needed.

If these conditions are met, the asset can appear in the Suggested Transfers list under Alerts.

Summary

Suggested Transfers appear when ON!Track detects a trackable asset at a smart location that is different from where the asset is currently assigned.

For end users, the idea is simple: if ON!Track sees an asset in a different smart place than expected, it can suggest a transfer. You can then review the suggestion and confirm it if it is correct.
