HEM Utilization (incl. reporting) Overview

  • Updated
HEM Utilization shows how heavy equipment is used over time. You can see this information directly in the equipment details in ON!Track. You can also download reports for selected equipment and time periods.

Equipment usage is shown in three simple states:

  • Working – the equipment is being used
  • Idle – the engine is on, but the equipment is not working
  • Engine off – the equipment is turned off

Utilization insights in asset details (charts)

1. Summary chart (Web + Mobile):

  • A simple usage summary is shown in the equipment details.

  • By default, it shows the last 30 days.

  • You can change the view to show up to the last 365 days.

  • The summary is displayed as a pie chart and the detailed view as a bar chart

2. Detailed chart (Web only):

  • You can open a detailed view to see usage day by day.

  • You can select or deselect each state (working, idle, engine off) to customize the view

Notes:

  • Utilization data requires a telematics gateway (TrackUnit device) to be installed on the equipment and linked in ON!Track. Without it, no utilization data appears.

  • The utilization panel also displays total engine hours and total distance (km) — not just the chart

  • There is up to a 1-hour delay between real-time equipment activity and visibility in ON!Track

  • Engine hours are rounded: 0–30 minutes shows as 0 hours, 31–60 minutes shows as 1 hour

Utilization reporting (Exports + scheduling)

You can create usage reports for heavy equipment.

  • Reports include a system template that can be duplicated and adjusted, or a new template can be created.
  • Reports can be created instantly or scheduled to run automatically
  • Reports can be downloaded as Excel or PDF files
  • Reports show working hours, idle hours, engine‑off hours, and fuel use (if available)
  • Report creation and management is available on the web only.

Who typically uses it

  • Warehouse Managers
  • Operations/equipment managers
  • Project managers
  • Service technicians
  • Drivers and workers

Admins or users with permission can create reports. Other users can receive reports by email.

How HEM utilization helps your business

  • Better use of equipment: You can see which machines are used a lot and which are used less., supporting better allocation across jobsites.

  • Better planning and cost checks: Usage reports show how equipment is actually used. This helps with planning work and discussing costs using clear data.

  • Reduced downtime risk through visibility: Daily usage patterns help spot unusual behavior early.
This allows teams to act sooner before problems affect work.

Benefits of HEM utilization

  • Clear utilization breakdown: Equipment usage is shown in three simple states: Working, Idle and Engine off. This makes it easy to understand how the equipment is used.

  • Two easy ways to view usage: A quick summary view and a  detailed day‑by‑day view (on web). This helps you choose how much detail you want to see.

    • Flexible time range: You can view usage for short or long periods. The time range can be set for up to one year (365 days).

    • Easy reports: You can create usage reports using ready‑made templates.  Reports can run automatically or when needed. They can be downloaded as Excel or PDF files.

Use cases

  • Project manager: Looks at equipment usage over the last 30, 90, or 365 days. Uses this to decide if a machine should stay on the current site or be moved to another one.

  • Service technician / maintenance responsible: Checks how often equipment is used. Uses this information to plan maintenance and service work.

  • Operations / equipment manager: Creates regular usage reports for selected equipment. Shares these reports with others by email using Excel or PDF files.

  • Driver / worker: Checks the usage summary in the equipment details (mobile or web). This gives a quick overview of recent use before starting daily work.
