Local Inventory Overview

  • Updated

Local Inventory is a mobile-only feature in ON!Track. It helps users check whether the tools and quantity items expected at a location, storage asset, or worker are actually present. Also, lets users compare the system record with what they find on site. The result shows what was found, what is missing, and what is in the wrong place.

Use Local Inventory when someone is physically on site and needs a simple way to confirm inventory.

What Local Inventory Does

  • See which items are expected at the selected location, storage asset, or worker.
  • Confirm the items that are physically present.
  • Identify missing or wrongly assigned items.
  • Share the result by email for follow-up.

How local inventory helps your business

Accurate inventory helps teams work faster and avoid unnecessary costs.

When records are incorrect, you may spend time searching for tools. It may also result in renting or buying equipment that is already available but not shown correctly in the system.

Local Inventory supports the business in the following ways:

  • Saves Time: Reduces the time users spend searching for tools.
  • Improves Record Accuracy: Helps users trust that ON!Track shows the correct inventory information.
  • Helps Prevent Loss: Makes it easier to identify missing assets earlier.
  • Improves Accountability: Shows what was found, what was not found, and what was found unexpectedly.
  • Supports Follow-Up: Provides a clear report that managers and teams can review.

Benefits of local inventory

  • Easy Mobile Use: Works directly in the ON!Track mobile app while users walk through the area.
  • Clear Results: Shows inventory results in simple categories such as Found, Not Found, and Unexpected.
  • Supports Action: Helps users review missing or unexpected items after the check.
  • Flexible Checks: Can be used for locations, storage assets, and workers.
  • Easy Report Sharing: Allows users to send the result as a PDF or Excel report.

Use Cases for local Inventory

  • Warehouse Check: Confirm whether tools assigned to the warehouse are actually present.
  • Van or Storage Check: Verify what is inside a van, box, or storage container.
  • Jobsite Check: Confirm whether required tools are still available at the jobsite.
  • Worker Check: Review tools assigned to a specific worker.
  • Regular Audit: Support routine checks and improve inventory control.

How it works

  • Open the Inventory area in the ON!Track mobile app.
  • Select a location, storage asset, or worker.
  • Review the expected items.

  • Confirm the items you find.
  • Check the final result.
  • Send the report by email, if needed.

Users may confirm items by:

  • Tapping items in the list.
  • Scanning labels with the phone camera.
  • Using Bluetooth detection, if supported.

For quantity items, users also confirm the available count.

Inventory Result Categories

Local Inventory shows results in three simple categories. These categories help users quickly understand what was found, what is missing, and what needs follow-up.

CategoryWhat it meansWhat users should do
FoundThe item was expected at this place and was confirmed as present. No action is usually needed.
Not FoundThe item was expected at this place but was not confirmed during the check.Check if the item is missing, moved, or not scanned yet.
UnexpectedThe item was found at this place, but ON!Track says it belongs somewhere else.Review the item and update its assignment if needed.

Best Practices

For better results:

  • Start the check only when you are at the place being checked.
  • Move through the area in an organized way.
  • Check shelves, bins, boxes, and compartments carefully.
  • Use label scanning when possible.
  • Review unexpected items before sending the report.
  • Send the report soon after finishing the check.

Summary

Local Inventory helps users check inventory on site using the ON!Track mobile app. It is a simple way to confirm what is really there, find differences, and share the results for follow-up.
