What are the different modes of vehicle or telematics gateway (TU600)?

  • Updated

The four key states Vehicle or Telematics Gateway (TU600) are as follows:

  • Active state:

    • The Vehicle or Telematics Gateway (TU600) scans continuously.
    • Sends data every two minutes if the engine runs and the vehicle moves over 8 km/h (only for vehicle gateways).
    • Requirement: Stable power supply above 12.1V (only for vehicle gateways).

  • Inactive state:

    • The Vehicle or Telematics Gateway (TU600) scans continuously (it scans with a duty cycle of 50%).
    • Sends data every 10 minutes if the engine or the vehicle is not moving (only for vehicle gateways).
    • The gateway uses power from the vehicle or heavy equipment’s battery, but under normal use, it doesn’t drain the battery. However, if the vehicle or equipment isn’t used for a long time, like two months or more, the battery may run out, just like it would without a gateway.
    • Requirement: Stable power supply above 12.1V (only for vehicle gateways).

  • Sleep state:

    • When the vehicle or heavy equipment’s battery gets low, the gateway still uses a small amount of power from it. It doesn’t fully switch to its internal battery at that point.
    • The gateway updates geolocation every hour and scans Sensor tags / BLE data.
    • Trigger: Van battery voltage drops below 12.1V (For HEM it is 4.5V).

  • Deep sleep state:

    • The Vehicle or Telematics Gateway stops sending data when its internal battery drops to 3500 mv.
    • It only sends data if the battery level is above this threshold.
