Van Gateways are smart devices that help track tools and equipment in your van. They make inventory checks easier and help keep everything organized. But before they can do all that, they need to be properly set up, or “onboarded.” Here's a simple guide to help you understand what happens during this process.
Instruction:
System Setup
Before you can use a Van Gateway, it needs to be properly activated and registered in the system. This is mainly handled by the local ON!Track team, but here’s what it means for you:
- Cloud activation: The local ON!Track Team will activate the device for you.
- ON!Track registration: With automated onboarding, the new Van Gateway will be automatically registered in your ON!Track account. If inactive, the Van Gateway will need to be onboarded manually.
Van Assignment
Even though the Van Gateway is activated and installed in your van, it doesn’t automatically know where it is. That’s why it needs to be manually assigned to a Storage Asset type "Van" in the system in order to start working.
What Gateway Does
You’ll interact with the Van Gateway through the ON!Track Mobile App or Web Portal. Once your Van Gateway is onboarded, here's what you can do:
- Check inventory automatically.
- Show your van’s location.
- Scan Bluetooth tags on tools.
- Send alerts if tools leave the van unexpectedly.
These features help you stay on top of your equipment and reduce losses.
Alerts and Notifications
If alerts are active, the system will notify you if:
- The gateway goes offline. When the Van Gateway shows “offline,” it means ON!Track isn’t getting data from the gateway.
- A tool leaves the van unexpectedly
These alerts help you act quickly and keep your assets safe.
Security and Data Protection
All data sent by the gateway is encrypted, meaning it’s protected from unauthorized access. The system also uses trusted software to keep everything secure.
Troubleshooting Tips
If something isn’t working:
- Check the LED light on the gateway.
- Make sure it’s correctly registered and assigned.
- Contact support if needed.
By following this process, your Van Gateway becomes a powerful tool for managing your equipment, saving time, and preventing losses. You don’t need to be a tech expert, just follow the steps and use the ON!Track app to stay in control.
