The customer wants to modify the Cost Settings for a jobsite but finds that the Edit button is disabled in ON!Track. They would like to understand why they cannot edit the selected location and how the cost settings can be changed.
How does ON!Track work?
In ON!Track, Cost Settings can only be edited for root locations. If the selected jobsite is a child location under a parent location, the Edit option will be disabled.
In ON!Track, Cost Settings can only be edited for root locations. If the selected jobsite is a child location under a parent location, the Edit option will be disabled.
This is because child locations automatically inherit the Cost Settings from their parent (root) location. As a result, ON!Track does not allow users to maintain separate Cost Settings for child locations.
When a customer attempts to edit a child location, they may find that:
- The Edit button is disabled, or
- The Cost Settings cannot be modified.
This behavior is expected because the inherited settings are managed at the root location level.
Recommendation and workaround (optional):
To update the Cost Settings:
To update the Cost Settings:
- Go to Administration.
- Navigate to Cost Location Settings.
- Identify the parent (root) location of the jobsite.
- Edit the Cost Settings for the root location.
- Save the changes.
The updated Cost Settings will automatically be inherited by all associated child locations. If the customer cannot edit the selected location, they should first verify whether it is a child location and then make the required changes at the corresponding root location.
