Customer Case:
The customer wants to understand the difference between the Stock Quantity and Current Quantity columns in Quantity Item Cost Reporting. They may see different values in these fields and want to know which value is used for cost calculations.
How does ON!Track work?
Although both fields are related to the quantity of stock at a location, they serve different purposes.
Stock Quantity
Stock Quantity represents the quantity of items that was present at the location during a specific charge period (between the Date Arrived and Date Left).
This is the quantity that ON!Track uses for cost calculations.
For quantity item costing, the calculation is based on:
Quantity Item Cost = Workdays on Site × Daily Rate × Stock Quantity
Since stock levels can change over time, ON!Track creates separate charge entries whenever the stock quantity changes. Each charge entry therefore contains the stock quantity that was valid during that specific period.
Current Quantity
Current Quantity represents the quantity that is currently available at the location.
This field is provided for inventory visibility only and is not used in quantity item cost calculations.
The current quantity can be different from the stock quantity shown in a charge entry because stock may have been added to or removed from the location after that charge period was created.
Summary
- Stock Quantity = Historical quantity used for the cost calculation during a specific charge period.
- Current Quantity = Current inventory level at the location.
- Stock Quantity affects the calculated cost.
- Current Quantity is informational only and does not affect the cost calculation.
