If a rate is changed, will ON!Track recalculate and update historical charge data?

  • Updated

Customer Case:
The customer wants to know whether changing an asset's rate setting or a rate template will affect previously calculated asset charges. They are concerned about whether historical reports and cost data will continue to use the old rate or be recalculated using the new rate.

How does ON!Track work?

Yes. When a rate setting is changed, ON!Track recalculates the asset cost data using the latest rate configuration.

ON!Track does not permanently store calculated asset charge values. Instead, the values displayed in the Asset Cost Report, Asset Cost tab, and Excel exports are calculated dynamically when the data is viewed or exported.

This means that if a customer changes a rate setting, the new rate will also affect historical charge calculations.

Example:

Original Daily Rate = $2.00
Updated Daily Rate = $2.50

If the customer later generates a report for a period in the past, ON!Track will use the current rate setting of $2.50 when calculating and displaying the asset costs. The previous rate of $2.00 is not used for the historical calculation.

The same behavior applies when changes are made to:

  • Asset Rate Settings
  • Template Rate Settings
  • Cost Settings - Working days changes

As a result, modifications to rate or cost configurations can impact both current and historical asset cost calculations displayed in ON!Track reports and exports.
