How does ON!Track work?
Open Charges
Open Charges represent charge entries for assets that are still assigned to a location or jobsite and are actively accumulating costs.
In technical terms, an Open Charge exists when the asset has:
- A Date Arrived recorded, but
- No Date Left recorded yet
Since the asset is still considered to be at the location, ON!Track continues calculating and accumulating costs according to the configured rate and cost settings.
Closed Charges
Closed Charges represent charge entries where the asset has already left the location and the charging period has ended.
In technical terms, a Closed Charge exists when the asset has:
- A Date Arrived recorded, and
- A Date Left recorded
Once the asset is transferred out of the location, ON!Track stops calculating costs for that charge entry. The cost for that period becomes final, and the charge is considered closed.
Example
- Asset arrives at Jobsite A on 1 January
- Asset remains on the jobsite
Status: Open Charge
Reason: No Date Left has been recorded, so ON!Track continues to calculate costs.
Reason: No Date Left has been recorded, so ON!Track continues to calculate costs.
- Asset is transferred out of Jobsite A on 15 January
Status: Closed Charge
Reason: A Date Left has been recorded, so the charging period is complete and no further costs will be added to that charge entry.
Reason: A Date Left has been recorded, so the charging period is complete and no further costs will be added to that charge entry.
Summary
- Open Charges = Asset is still at the location, and costs continue to accumulate.
- Closed Charges = Asset has left the location, the charging period is complete, and the cost is finalized.
